But to be an IT Superhero, you don’t need to be bitten by a radioactive arachnid, volunteer for a secret government experiment or have the resources of an eccentric billionaire. All the powers you need are a few good strategies combined with the right equipment to ensure 24/7 reliability.

Teleportation

Picture this scenario: you’re on a much-needed vacation and receive intel from headquarters that the enemies of uptime have successfully shut down the network. But instead of cutting your time in the surf short, you calmly excuse yourself to find the nearest computer to log in. With a few clicks of a mouse and a couple of keystrokes, you now have the power to troubleshoot problems in two places at once. With secure out-of-band access to console managers, switches, and routers, you’ve successfully saved the day and your organization lots of money.

Telepathy 

Your brain is pretty amazing, but a real hero knows when to ask for help. Every Batman needs a Robin, which in the case of IT, is a context-sensitive or contextual help menu. These embedded help resources identify procedural errors specific to your IT situation and understand what you’re trying to accomplish in the moment. This individually tailored support eliminates the need to dust-off long-winded user manuals and decreases your cognitive load to get the job done faster.
