Transition Networks Brings New Carrier Ethernet Functionality to Madrid for SDN & NFV Show

The telecom service provider world is embracing Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Networking (SDN), and is thus undergoing a huge structural change.

The results will be significant to infrastructure economies. But making the change will be expensive, which puts pressure on carriers to maintain their revenues from traditional services.

That’s why we announced the new Liberator™ product suite at the 4th annual Network Virtualization Forum in Madrid, Spain last week.

We’re very excited about Liberator™, which includes three families of Carrier Ethernet network interface devices (NIDs) and a family of aggregation switches for carrier applications.

A key value proposition for Liberator™ is support for legacy interfaces, enabling existing services to be brought into the modern Carrier Ethernet network connectivity space. The products provide a comprehensive solution set for enterprise networking, cloud computing, backhaul of cell sites, and broadband access services.

Liberator™ delivers Serial, TDM and ISDN services alongside native Carrier Ethernet services using the same Carrier Ethernet CPE, and allows customers to retain control over when to migrate away from legacy services.

We showcased these new products in our exhibit booth at the Network Virtualization Forum, because those who attended this event were looking for innovations that will help them move into the NFV/SDN future while still providing their customers with the services they are accustomed to.

Also at the show, Adam Turner, our Head of Product Management for EMEA, delivered a presentation and participated in a panel on related topics:

Presentation: The Challenges of NFV in a Legacy Environment

Panel: What are the time-scales for SDN to have a real impact on Ethernet Services?

The promise of SDN/NFV networks to lower network costs and lead to more dynamic service deployments, makes it a very exciting time to be in this industry. Our new Liberator™ product family will facilitate a smooth transition to this new technology.
