Lantronix Highlights Out of Band Management (OOBM) Solutions at Data Center World
New SLB Branch Office Manager to be Showcased
Irvine, Calif. – April 29, 2014 – Lantronix, Inc. (NASDAQ: LTRX), a leading global provider of smart IoT (Internet of Things) solutions, will showcase its full range of IT (information technology) management solutions this week at Data Center World in Las Vegas (booth #437). Of particular focus is the Lantronix SLB branch office manager, which enables IT administrators to easily and securely manage remote servers and IT infrastructure equipment over the LAN or the Internet. The company will also showcase its xPrintServer family of mobile printing solutions for the enterprise.
The SLB branch office manager combines the capabilities of the award-winning Lantronix SLC console manager with remote power management into a compact, 1U rack-mountable appliance. SLB is intended for enterprises whose business model provides for distributed branch or satellite offices – such as technology, retail, finance, insurance, healthcare and food services industries. It conserves rack space and reduces costs by enabling administrators at headquarters to centrally manage IT equipment, wherever and whenever necessary.
SLB was recently deployed at the Aloha Cabled Observatory (ACO) – the world’s deepest observatory at 4,700 meters (three miles) below the sea surface – to replace an old power distribution unit (PDU). ACO was in need of a solution that would supply remote power management, control and configuration for critical seawater systems. According to Brian Chee, IT specialist, University of Hawaii at Manoa, “The failing PDU was too old to provide encrypted remote access. SLB solved that issue while providing more control in less rack space. It’s especially great because SLB provides the functionality of multiple devices in a single RU.”

The network and the data center are the lifeblood of today’s enterprise. In order to stay competitive, organizations of all types and sizes must strive to maintain 100% uptime. Even a short period of downtime can potentially cost millions, cripple operations and drive customers away. The solution to minimizing downtime is remote Out of Band Management (OOBM) that enables systems administrators to monitor and respond to globally distributed networks and systems from anywhere over the Internet. Lantronix’ complete suite of IT infrastructure management solutions that enable users to:
- manage network and IT assets from virtually anywhere over the Internet or dial-up;

“Our Out of Band Management (OOBM) solutions allow IT administrators to connect, control, and manage their equipment throughout the world, enabling rapid diagnoses and remediation of problems remotely,” said Kurt Busch, president and CEO, Lantronix. “The SLB in particular provides the ability to manage, diagnose and troubleshoot equipment throughout branch offices from a central location.
